As great an opportunity as this weblog could be for opening dialogue on the unspoken, you've turned off comments. I was wondering why you were denying an such an obviously hurting public further opportunities to communicate and relate. After looking further, and considering that you've also disabled the archives, it's about creating a book to profit by the candid expressions of miseries suppressed... IMHO, Christ would have driven you too from the steps!

disOrders; medications

New Scientist Breaking News - New drug offers jitter-free mental boost:

A new class of drug may increase alertness without any of the jitteriness of over-stimulation, suggest the results of a small clinical trial released this week.

A compound dubbed CX717, a member of the new class called ampakines, significantly improved performance on tests of memory, attention, alertness, reaction time and problem solving in healthy men deprived of sleep.

disOrders: ADHD; treatment

Combined ADHD Treatment Lowers Need for Drugs:

May 11, 2005 -- Most kids who are treated for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder take stimulant medications, but new research suggests that the need for these drugs can be reduced dramatically in those who get behavioral therapy as well.

When the two approaches were combined, the amount of medication needed to achieve the same results as drugs alone was reduced by two-thirds, researchers from the University at Buffalo reported.

The study was also the first to test the effectiveness of a new ADHD patch containing methylphenidate, the stimulant also known as Ritalin. The study was funded by the patch's manufacturer, Shire Pharmaceuticals Group.

myRemarks: Substitute parental involvement for behaviorial therapy and no dose for low dose and you'll have my family's approach. I'm still struggling with the medicate or not question to be honest. We have our 'Calgon' moments too.

A little bird and I are keeping our ears to the ground and eyes to the horizon for any signals... Thanx again Linda.!
