I changed the "<>" to () 'cause my attempts to prevent the 'read more?' tags from showing up in posts that didn't have more failed. :-[
I suspect the problem is that the reference call to the 'blogitempermalinkurl' is being made before there is a permalink.
I'm still working on it... any ideas?
